Practise what you preach: Nico Wissing’s own romantic, hillside garden has more than 300 species of plants and has grown organically over the years. The beds around the house are full of herbaceous perennials. To the rear is a long, modern pond flanked on either side by banks of pennisetum, clipped hedges, and yew balls stretching away from the terrace. Guided by a beech hedge, the garden slowly evolves into a wilder form, with prairie-style planting. There is also a vegetable garden, a greenhouse, the office with a sedum roof and various sculptures and seats to dream away in the landscape.
